FACTS:   Breast cancer is the most common among African American women in the U.S. and is the 2nd leading cause of death after lung cancer.

About 1 in 9 African American women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.

African American women are more likely than Caucasian women to be diagnosed with breast cancer under the age of 45.

About 281,550 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women.  About 49,290 new cases of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) will be diagnosed.  About 43,600 women will die from breast cancer. 

In New Jersey, estimated 8,330 new cases and 1,250 deaths.

In Pennsylvania, estimated 12,140 new cases and 1,970 deaths.
